Psalm 103 — The Yeti Version

If it could be measured in a distance, the width of the ever expanding universe wouldn’t even come close.

I have referenced this psalm in two previous posts of mine (featured below) because this is probably my favorite psalm. Perhaps nowhere else in the psalms is God’s character described so beautifully. For a reliable translation, please see the ESV version.

Let me talk to myself for a minute. Self, with everything that you have, celebrate God.

Celebrate Jesus. Remember all of the great things about him.

He forgives. He heals.

He sets you free. Because of his mercy, loyalty, and love, he celebrates you.

He restores your youth. He satisfies you.

For the poor, he does the right thing and executes justice.

He makes an effort to be knowable — he did this with Moses and the people of Israel.

He is merciful, gracious, patient, loyal, and loving.

He is not one to point out every mistake that you do. When he does get angry (and it takes a lot to get him angry), he does not stay angry forever.

He does not give us what we deserve for our sin. We deserve punishment, but he doesn’t follow through.

It’s hard to comprehend how much loyal love God has for people who revere him. If it could be measured in a distance, the width of the ever expanding universe wouldn’t even come close.

It is as if he puts our mistakes on the one side of the universe that’s expanding and puts us on the complete other side.

God treats the people who revere him just like a loving father treats his children.

He sees our weakness. He knows our weakness. He made us from the dust.

Our lives are so fleeting. One day we are powerful and beautiful…

the next we are in our grave.

This stands in stark contrast with God’s eternal loyal love and perfect character which is available to anyone who reveres him.

It is available to anyone who follows through on God’s agreement with them.

Jesus is king, and he is in control.

To any spiritual being devoted to God that might be paying attention to this, celebrate Jesus!

To anyone up there that works for him, celebrate Jesus!

Celebrate who he is and what he does everywhere he does it! That includes you too, self!
