Psalm 3 — The Yeti Version
You Give Me Protection, Hope, and Value
This is the first psalm that I’ve rewritten that uses the personal name for the biblical god: LORD. This word has a fascinating history, but for the purpose of rewriting the psalms in my words, I chose to simply use the personal name that I call the god of the bible. Again, I’m doing this as a hopefully engaging, meditative exercise. For a reliable translation, please reference the ESV Version.
Jesus, so many people hate me and want to see me fail.
They say that you are useless to me, God.
But I know that you give me protection, hope, and value.
When I ask for your help, you come through.
I wake up each morning only because you made it so.
So I will not fear all the people who want to trap and hurt me.
Get up and fight for me, Jesus — you protect your people!
