Psalm 61 — The Yeti Version
Show me the way to your everlasting stability.
It’s interesting to me how David talks about “the king” in the third person, including himself and future kings. For a reliable translation, please see the ESV version.
Hear me out, God — I’m asking you for help!
This is what I do when I need you — call you when I’m sad. Show me the way to your everlasting stability.
You’ve always been there for me — protecting me from my enemies.
Can I live with you forever? Your protection is so sweet!
God, you know me. You know how I’m committed to you. You’ve entrusted me with your people and their land.
So, as their king, I say “Long live the king and the kingdom forever!”
I hope whoever occupies this throne embodies patient love and trustworthiness!
But for now, I will continue singing songs about you, God, and renewing my commitments to you.
