The phrase ‘Son of Man’ is kind of confusing in verse four. When I read this previously, I wondered if this was the same ‘Son of Man’ used in the book of Daniel and in the New Testament. However, it seems to just be a figure of speech regarding mankind generically. This is the first psalm where I collapsed two verses into one (verses seven and eight). Otherwise, I continue to do this verse by verse. For a reliable translation, please see the ESV translation.
King Jesus, everyone in the whole world knows your name! You transcend culture — you’re in and above everything!
You use tiny children to humiliate your opponents!
When I think about all you created in this universe with its solar systems and galaxies...
I wonder why you pay any attention to us humans, let alone care about us!
Yet you made mankind almost like gods and gave us value and worth!
You’ve delegated some of your earthly authority to us.
You’ve put us in charge of cultivating our environment and the animals that are around us.
King Jesus, everyone in the whole world knows your name!
