Psalm 99 — The Yeti Version

You listened to them. You forgave them. But you also did not spare them.

For verse seven to praise Aaron in the same breath as Moses and Samuel is funny to me. In terms of moral character, I’ve had the impression that they’re on very different levels… I don’t remember Aaron redeeming himself after the golden calf incident — but I could be wrong. I love the second to the last verse that succinctly describes the nuanced relationship with God’s chosen people and all of the bad things that they have done. That is why I included part of it in the subtitle. For a reliable translation, please see the ESV version.

Jesus is king — this should intimidate people.

He not only is the king of the Jews, he is also king of all people groups.

Everyone should celebrate your great character — you’re so special!

King Jesus uses his power to establish justice and fairness just like he did with the Jewish people.

Everyone should humble themselves and celebrate Jesus — he’s so special!

Do you remember the mighty Aaron, Moses, and Samuel? These men relied on Jesus, and he answered them.

God spoke to them through the clouds. They listened to what he said.

Jesus, you listened to them. You forgave them. But you also did not spare them of the consequences for their actions.

Celebrate Jesus — he’s very special!
